The school named after William Green is now leased to Associated Talmud Torahs, who moved in their all-girls' school, Hanna Sacks. But leaders at nearby Clinton School are pushing to reclaim the school. The issue is causing tension between the Jewish group and others.

Students of the Ted Lenart school achieve the highest grades of all public grade school students in Illinois. The school's success is the result of its small enrollment (240 students), avoiding rote exercises to make learning fun, and parental involvement.
