Wild Pacific salmon

Wild salmon is a staple of Pacific Northwest cuisine. Widely available only from May through November, the salmon's high fat content is responsible for its delicious taste, particularly when it is hot- or cold-smoked. The fish is a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which helps fight heart disease.

Chicago deep-dish delight

Chicago is home to deep-dish pizza, a blend of America's Midwestern and Italian heritage. Pizzeria Uno offered the first deep-dish pizza in 1943. Other Chicago pizza parlors are Pizzeria Due, Lou Malnati's and Giordano's.
