Xavier rifle program axed
Article Abstract:
Xavier University cited four main factors in the decision to cut the two-time NCAA championship team of the Ohio school's championship-winning rifle team. The team was cut, as it required significant renovations to meet modern standards, budgetary cuts, and a belief by Xavier's administration that rifle's position as an NCAA sport is no longer secure.

A "gentleman's" rifle in the trenches
Article Abstract:
The .303 British Royal Grade Holland and Holland single-shot, serial no 26069, was used by the Irish Guards as a sniping rifle during World War I. Rifle No. 26069 soldiered on with the 1st Battalion helped win the sniping war, and the men of the Irish Guards came to love the trim little 'gentleman's rifle' because it saved many of their lives.
