The lifeblood of Vienna, Austria's society is the waltz, and young people throughout the city will perform the dance in public for the first time at locations, such as the Lawyer's Ball at the Imperial Palace. Fasching, the Lenten carnival season in Jan and Feb, is the peak season for waltzing, and balls will be held almost continuously. Once the dance of the aristocracy, the waltz has become the national dance, and pastime.
