AZA Species Survival Plan profile: De Brazza's monkey
Article Abstract:
One of the Species Survival Plans (SSP) that the American Zoo and Aquarium Assn (AZA) sponsors is the management of captive populations of De Brazza monkeys. Although not yet officially listed as endangered, De Brazza monkey populations are dwindling rapidly that drastic conservation efforts are needed. A species of old world monkeys, De Brazza monkeys are primarily found throughout Africa. Primary threat to their survival is human intrusion, such as hunting and logging. With De Brazza monkeys included in AZA's SSP, however, awareness and interest in them are seen to escalate.

DoD MAPS future for bird conservation
Article Abstract:
The US Dept of Defense has established a program aimed at collecting population information and demographic data on North American landbirds wintering in the neotropics. Called Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS), the program also seeks to gain an insight into the reasons for dramatic population declines in bird populations and to search for ways to halt these declines. MAPS covers 96 active stations on 32 installations throughout the US.
