Acceptance of marijuana therapy prompts call for more research
Article Abstract:
Anti-drug laws have made research on the positive medical effects of marijuana impossible. However, voters in Arizona and California have approved the medical use of the drug for treating nausea, pain and loss of hunger in AIDS, cancer and other diseases. The broader Arizona law allows doctors to prescribe marijuana, heroin and LSD. The Drug Enforcement Administration will continue to consider possession and cultivation of marijuana as felony. Hindrance to marijuana research is the difficulty in dosage control and measurement, and in double-blind experiments.
