Adapting to the inevitable: Greenhouse-gas emissions targets to be discussed in Buenos Aires next month will have little effect on the potential impacts of climate change. We should be exploring ways of adapting to impacts, some of which are inevitable
Article Abstract:
The current agenda to control global warming is very limited, with the Kyoto target doing relatively little to combat the rate of change. It is important to consider how best to adapt to climate change, such as by drought-proofing those at risk, but increasing irrigation efficiency, producing more drought resistant crops and developing buffer stocks of food. If water demand were to be reduced by just 5% it would have four times as great an effect as reducing emissions by 30%.

A greener north
Article Abstract:
Qualitative response of the biosphere to the climatic trepidation was analyzed by using satellite observations on photosynthetic activity such as normalized difference vegetation index and annual cycle of carbon dioxide (CO2 amplitude). Results indicated high trends on both indexes particularly in the northern high latitudes indicating that temperature increase has a positive influence on both photosynthesis and respiration and therefore, favors a longer growing season.

The great debate on CO2 emissions
Article Abstract:
Scientific experts disagree over what targets should be established for reduced greenhouse-gas emissions to reduce world pollution and any resulting climate change. Scientific research discussed by scientist Wigley features a broad target of 550 parts per million by volume (ppmv). Other scientists believe that greenhouse-gas concentration targets should be set to 450 ppmv. Developed targets should lead by example in reducing Carbon dioxide emissions.
