An Earth-like numerical dynamo model
Article Abstract:
It is widely agreed that the Earth and other planets maintain their magnetic fields by self-sustaining dynamo action, but the dynamo's mechanism is not fully understood. New numerical models of convection-driven dynamos successfully duplicate many of the known characteristics of the Earth's magnetic field. The study shows that the earth's solid iron inner core is of crucial importance to the whole core's dynamics.

Stability of atmospheric CO2 levels across the Triassic/Jurassic boundary
Article Abstract:
A new study suggests that extinctions in the Triassic/Jurassic ages thought to have links to a steep rise in atmospheric CO2 levels, possibly released by volcanic activity and related to global warming, was not caused by environmental degradation and extinctions but by other volcanic effects.
