Ascension Island: No longer off-limits to turtle watchers
Article Abstract:
A visit to Ascension Island, which was prohibited earlier due to military presence, and the experience of watching the turtles, is narrated. The turtles are seen to be great earthmovers, shifting great mass of sands around to carve a broad body pit, and deftly scooping a finely shaped nest chamber with hind flippers to lay the eggs.

Conservation hotline: In time for tortoises
Article Abstract:
The radiated tortoises of southern Madagascar are conserved by the efforts of Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Many tribes in the southwestern region of the country regard the radiated tortoise as an important part of their culture, and hence are trying for the conservation of this habitat.
