Baseball teams beaten by jet lag
Article Abstract:
A study on the last three complete season records in 1991-93 of the 19th North American major league baseball teams shows that the chances of the home team winning the game are more if the other team has travelled by air in the eastern direction. However, if the other team has travelled in a western direction or by road, the home team is not in advantage. The number of games won by the eastern and western teams are similar and no other factors affect the home team's advantage. Air travel in an eastern direction over six times decreases the individual's stamina.

Sunrise and sunset in fly brains
Article Abstract:
Animals have an internal timekeeping mechanism that precisely regulates 24-hour (circadian) rhythms of body function and behavior, and synchronizes them to the day-night cycle. A constellation of clock genes lies at the core of this timepiece, and these genes interact in complex intracellular feedback loops to produce oscillations in their own expression.

Engraftment of connexin 43-expressing cells prevents post-infarct arrhythmia
Article Abstract:
The initiation of ventricular tachycardia (VT) in mice can be prevented by transplantation of embryonic cardiomyocytes (eCMs) in myocardial infarcts. The occurrence of VT decreased noticeably due to the engraftment of eCMs.
