Biodiversity conservation in traditional coffee systems of Mexico
Article Abstract:
Coffee is grown in a variety of ways in Mexico, some modern and some traditional. The traditional shaded method, in which natural tree cover is maintained, is practiced by small-scale, community-based growers, many of whom are indigenous people. Shaded plantations are important sites of biodiversity for plants and animals. Many biological priority regions overlap with or are near traditional coffee-growing areas.

Alternate species concepts as bases for determining priority conservation areas
Article Abstract:
Different species concept approaches can significantly help or hinder wildlife conservation projects. The biological species concept yields one set of endemic pattern data, while the phylogenetic species concept results in another. Biodiversity evaluations should therefore incorporate both approaches to obtain a comprehensive set of data, producing more efficient conservation policies.

Tropical forest game conservation
Article Abstract:
Ethnobiology and resource managements in the traditional Yucatec Maya Communities of interior Quintana Roo, Mexico is studied and discussed. It is observed that their principles are enforced both by social and supernatural sanctions based on taking no more than one needs and not killing many animals at a time or year even if one needs more.
