Biologists deploy database to quash drug-resistant bacteria
Article Abstract:
A database has been compiled to help combat the rising tide of antibiotic-resistant bacteria by European microbiologists. The identification method recommended by the European team is pulsed-field gel ectophoresis (PFGE), due to which drug-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus can now be identified more readily.

Seed bank raises hope of Iraqi crop comeback

Agricultural scientists in Syria could help plant research to get back on its feet in Iraq if the security situation there improves. Researchers are also eager to salvage Iraq's own crop-science prowess with a strong support of a functioning agricultural unit and a seed bank.
