Biometrics group counters privacy fears
Article Abstract:
The International Biometric Industry Association has drawn up a set of principles designed to protect users of biometry from abuses of their privacy. This organization, which represents 15 companies, emphasizes that biometrics is a safe technology offering almost total protection against a wide range of abuses of privacy. It states that biometrics boost personal data security, rather than undermining it. The principles state that biometric data must not be made available without personal authorization or the authority of law.
