Biotech boom
Article Abstract:
Scientist at The Centre for Genomic Applications (TCGA) have acquired a new Hewlett-Packard supercomputer, the fastest in India, worth US$2.2 million which places the centre among the ranks of international institutions such as Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Britain and Institute for Molecular Science in Japan. The centre is youngest of several biotechnology laboratories in India and aims to provide world-class facilities for genomics and proteomics.

India plans third Antarctic base
Article Abstract:
India has proposed to set up a scientific base in Larsemann Hills, Antarctica. The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) in Goa, India, has selected the site to investigate how India broke away from Antarctica and the scientists are hoping to find the vestiges of Indian Mahanadi River in Larsemann Hills.
