Clinton proposes $2.8 billion increase in science funding

The US National Science Foundation's (NSF's) annual research budget will be boosted by $675 million, as part of a $2.8 billion increase in the overall US research budget. The fund will include a further $1 billion for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), although scientists wanted to double the research budget.

Bleak outlook for universities as state budget deficits bite
Article Abstract:
Many states, facing critical budget shortfalls, are cutting support for colleges and universities. Even in areas where federal reseaerch support continues, the universities may have to cut back because the operating funds from state governments have been cut.
