Blueprint for success

Article Abstract:

M. Verdaguer and colleagues have developed a remarkable new Prussian-blue-like component, which works as a magnet below the critical temperature of 320 K. It is a shapeless non-stoichiometric extended solid with better characteristics than components belonging to the same family. It is not an accidental discovery but has been developed scientifically. Hence, its magnetic characteristics are in agreement with the theoretical models evolved in molecular magnetism. It is also helpful in the study and teaching of the fundamental aspects of molecular magnetism.

Breathing life into an old model

Article Abstract:

Pierre Weiss's important 1907 mean-field theory of ferromagnetism has been updated to include the behaviour of ferromagnetic materials at higher temperatures. This extension to the theory means that scientists now have a more complete idea the paramagnetic behaviour of ferromagnetic materials.

Mean-field cluster model for the critical behaviour of ferromagnets

Article Abstract:

A mean-field model cluster model of magnetism and the critical behaviour of ferromagnets is presented. The new version can describe the behaviour of ferromagnetic materials at higher temperatures, and provides a more complete view for both the Curie-Weiss and the critical-scaling theorists.
