The global project to catalogue the human brain proteins has been launched. The scientists from around the world have decided that the long-term goal of the project should focus on proteins relevant to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

Research has been conducted on Alzheimer's disease. The authors demonstrate that Pin1 prolyl isomerase's expression is correlated with neuronal vulnerability and neurofibrillary degeneration in Alzheimer's disease.
