Animal welfare activists are working to provide better environments for animals raised as pets but are mistreated or neglected by their owners. They have initiated programs to educate the public on humane treatment, influence the passage of animal welfare bills and promote sterilization of animals.

Ginny, the dog, and her master Phillip Gonzalez have been at work for seven years saving stray cats from death and starvation. Ginny works by searching for these stray cats which Gonzalez places in foster homes where they can be taken care of.
