Causes and consequences of single-male and multimale mating in free-ranging patas monkeys, Erythrocebus patas
Article Abstract:
Patas monkeys in Laikipia, Kenya are studied for several years for sexual behavior, in particular the occurrence of single male or multimale mating. Variables leading to single or multimale mating that are studied include the number of males compared to females in the group, intrasexual competition, demographic factors, and ecological factors. Graphs and charts compare the variable statistics, showing that female patas monkeys tend to mate with one male from year to year.

Trade offs between extraterritorial prospecting and helping in a cooperative mammal
Article Abstract:
An investigation on whether male helpers in cooperative societies meerkats trade off their cooperative contributions to pup feeding against prospecting extraterritorial for mating and dispersal opportunities is presented. The findings reveal that male helpers in cooperative species face trade-offs to male parents in noncooperative species, between investment in offspring care and alternative fitness-maximizing tactics.

Human presence reduces predation in a free-ranging vervet monkey population in Kenya
Article Abstract:
Human presence reduces the risk of predation in a free ranging vervet monkey population in Kenya. The vervet monkey's vulnerability to predation may also be influenced by factors such as group size, proximity to waterholes and density of trees. The disappearance rate of leopards is in accordance with the presence or absence of an observer and the distance the leopards are from the ranger station.
