Chromatin remodelling by the glucocorticoid receptor requires the BRG1 complex
Article Abstract:
Hormone-dependent activation of the mammary-tumour virus promoter by the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) needs the hBRG1/BAF complex. Under conditions that prompt dissociation in this complex, trans-activation from an organized chromatin template is inhibited. Overexpression of hBRG1, which boosts activation by the GR, can reverse this inhibition. It is suggested that it may be possible to separate the transcriptional activation and chromatin remodelling activities of proteins that interact with hormone receptors.

Nuclear pore complexes in the organization of silent telomeric chromatin
Article Abstract:
There could be a physical connection between nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) and telomeres. The involvement of NPCs in the subnuclear localization and functional organization of chromatin suggests that NPCs have a function beyond controlling nuclear-translocation processes. There is also evidence that Mlp1/Mlp2 and Yku70 share a substantial functional overlap over a quite varied set of metabolic processes. It is concluded that Mlp proteins mediate their role in chromatin organization through Yku70.

Replication of transcriptionally active chromatin
Article Abstract:
Electron microscopic studies of single DNA replication in Saccharomyces cerevisiae show that two newly replicated coding regions arranged into nucleosomes are produced by replication components entering upstream of a transcriptionally active-ribosomal RNA gene. Active chromatin structure is not inherited at the replication fork and is reproduced along the coding region subsequent to replication associated with the impairment of preformed nucleosomes.
