Decompression-induced melting of ice IV and the liquid-liquid transition in water
Article Abstract:
An experimental approach, not restrained by the TH barrier, involving measurement of decompression-induced melting curves of high-pressure stages of ice in small emulsified droplets, is reported. The melting curve for ice IV appears to show discontinuity at the site proposed for the line of liquid-liquid phase transitions, consistent with the coexistence of two differing stages of supercooled liquid water. The possible Gibbs potential surface is calculated.

Growing range of correlated motion in a polymer melt on cooling towards the glass transition
Article Abstract:
A melt of short, unentangled polymer chains over a range of temperatures is investigated using computer simulations. Density fluctuations stay short-ranged, but spatial correlations between monomer displacements become long-range as the dynamic critical temperature Tc is approached on cooling. A growing dynamical correlation length with a corresponding order parameter associated with the glass transition is identified..
