Density and reproductive success of California towhees
Article Abstract:
California towhees (Pipilo crissalis) were found at higher density in ungrazed woodlands of oak pine than in grazed sites, even though their reproductive success was lower at the ungrazed location. Predation was the main cause of lower reproductive success, but there were also lower clutch size and fewer young fledged at the ungrazed site.
