Departure of migrating European robins, Erithacus rubecula, from a stop over site in relation to wind and rain
Article Abstract:
The departure of migrating European robins, Erithacus rubecula, from their stop over site in relation to wind and rains is studied, using the capture - recapture data to 1153 European robins. Besides other cues, the wind speed and rain play a significant role in the synchronization of the bird migration spatially and temporally.

Asymmetric territorial contests in the European robin: the role of settlement costs
Article Abstract:
Removal-replacement experiments on European robins (Erithacus rubecula) were conducted to examine the role of cost during the settlement of territories as well as the impact of differences in individual quality and environmental conditions on the outcome of contests between residents and newcomers. The findings indicated that dominance tends to shift from removed owners to newcomers and that this dominance is determined by the time that the newcomers took to settle in their new homes.
