Doubling of world population unlikely
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that there is a two-thirds probability that the global population will not double by the year 2100. Probable distribution of populations by age and size is simulated for 13 global areas. The probabilistic method takes into account expert knowledge of trends in migration, mortality and fertility, together with the 90% uncertaintly level for such trends in other areas of the world. A probabilistic interpretation is not usually given to conventional population forecasts.
