Dynamics of CO2-driven lake eruptions
Article Abstract:
The derivation of an equation of state for gas-liquid mixtures, used to determine the dynamics of a bubbly flow with the help of the Bernoulli equation, aids the study of the dynamics of CO2-derived lake water eruptions. The decompression of water saturated with CO2 produces explosive eruptions, such as those seen at Lake Nyos and Lake Monoun in Cameroon. The dynamics are similar to those of volcanic eruptions driven by water, though small differences due to buoyancy and turbulence are possible.

Non-fluorous polymers with very high solubility in supercritical CO2 down to low pressures
Article Abstract:
Carbon dioxide is an environmentally-friendly solvent but its solvent power is so weak that impractically high pressures are required to dissolve solutes. One way to solve the problem is to use hydrocarbon CO2-philes based on poly(ether-carbonate) copolymers.

Designed to dissolve
Article Abstract:
Carbon dioxide is seen as a solvent that is kinder to the environment than others, but its solvent power is weak. One way to solve this problem is the use of 'CO2-philic' auxiliary solutes, one of which is based on poly(ether-carbonate) copolymers.
