Edge and Area Effects on the Occurrence of Migrant Forest Songbirds
Article Abstract:
The article examines data from meta-analyses of forest area and edge and their effects on migrant songbirds, and attributes the differences in study results to three factors: forest-dominated landscapes producing weaker effects in edge studies, the link between confounded studies and strong effects, and forest patch size.

Potential effects of passenger pigeon flocks on the structure and composition of presettlement forests of eastern North America
Article Abstract:
Research suggests that passenger pigeon flocks played a significant role in directing forest ecology in eastern North America prior to human settlement. Roosting, nesting, and food habits impacted the distribution of tree debris, influencing dominance and succession patterns.

Recovery of Faunal Communities During Tropical Forest Regeneration
Article Abstract:
The role of secondary forests in animal species conservation is explored for mature tropical forests undergoing clearing for pasture or agriculture. Species richness resembles the level found in mature forests approximately two to four decades after land abandonment.
