Effect of trace metal availability on coccolithophorid calcification
Article Abstract:
Trace metals are found in the atmospheric dust that settles on the oceans. These trace metals can limit phytoplankton growth in parts of the ocean which produce organic and calcium carbonate needed to drive the ocean's biological pump.
