Electrophoretic mobility of DNA knots
Article Abstract:
A linear relationship exists between the speed of electrophoretic migration of DNA knots and their average crossing number. An analysis of gels shows that this linear relationship is observed for both torus- and twist-types of knots, and for granny knots. The speed of migration is directly proportional to the complexity of the knots. The average crossing number of the ideal geometrical forms of DNA knots is directly proportional to the compactness of the knots.

Geometry and physics of knots
Article Abstract:
The ideal representations of different types of knots have simple geometrical properties. A linear relationship exists between the standard crossing numbers and the length-to-diameter ratio of knots. The length of the flexible tube required to form a knot increases with the complexity of the knots. The average shape of knotted polymeric chains in thermal equilibrium is similar to the corresponding ideal knot representation.

Properties of ideal composite knots
Article Abstract:
Scientists investigating the structure of Deoxyribonucleic acid knots have discovered that the best combination of ideal factor knots are found in composite knots. Writhe additivity is affected by configuration arrangements in composite and factor knots. Composite knot proteins consisting of multiple factor knots are likely to possess isomeric activity.
