Feminization of male carp
Article Abstract:
The exposure of male carps to xeno-oestrogen compounds such as 4-tert-pentylphenol (TPP) during the period of sex differentiation results in the appearance of female phenotypic characters. The carps develop oviducts in their gonads. The number of primordial germ cells decreases and the development of the testis is poor. High concentrations of TPP induce the formation of a feminized testis and inhibit spermatogenesis. The study shows that disturbances in the reproductive cycle by chemicals can affect the dynamics of species.

Neglected tests for neglected patients
Article Abstract:
The need for reliable diagnostics is closely linked to the need for safe and effective treatments, as many of the disease considered 'neglected' in terms of treatment, are equally neglected in terms of diagnosis. It is believed that the need to avoid overprescribing antimalarial drugs, to minimize costs and the risk of developing resistance, reinforces the need for an adequate diagnostic test.
