The immigration restricts imposed after the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 were strangling scientific exchange, but the thing have improved slightly. The US government has boosted the staffing level, has abandoned a plan to force foreign scientists to obtain licenses to operate lab equipment and has revised a rule that would have required foreign-born researchers on defense-funded projects to work in segregated areas.

Breaking the age barrier
Article Abstract:
Many senior scientists and researchers are working for productive and innovative research programs beyond their retirement age. However, scientists in many European countries and Japan have to retire at a certain age regardless of their level of productivity due to mandatory retirement laws in their countries.
