Functional epistasis on a common MHC haplotype associated with multiple sclerosis
Article Abstract:
The human major histocompatibility complex (MHC) HLA-DR2 haplotype, which predisposes to multiple sclerosis is reported to show more extensive linkage disequilibrium than other common causcasian HLA haplotypes in the DR region. The epistatic modulation of the severity is an important general regulatory role that is more widespread throughout the MHC and contributes to patterns of linkage disequilibrium on other MHC haplotypes.

The simplicity of metazoan cell lineages
Article Abstract:
The algorithmic complexity of a cell lineage is used to estimate the complexity of the embryonic lineages of four metazoan species from two different phyla. The evolutionary simulations show that selection for decreases complexity has played a major role in moulding metazoan cell lineages.
