High-quality male field crickets invest heavily in sexual display but die young
Article Abstract:
The phenotypic quality of field crickets, Teleogryllus commodus is manipulated by altering the protein content of their diet. An attempt is made to show that nymphs and adult females reared on a high-protein diet lived longer than those on a low protein diet and in contrast adult males who reared on a high protein diet died sooner than those on low-protein diets because they invested more energy in sexual display.

Post-mating sexual selection increases lifetime fitness of polyandrous females in the wild
Article Abstract:
Field studies suggest that post-mating sexual selection in vertebrates biases fertilization towards genetically more compatible males. Experimentally assigning mates to females, it is shown that polyandry greatly increases offspring survival in the Australian marsupial Anterchinus stuartii and males get more paternity under sperm competition.
