Hormonal and behavioural responses to simulated territorial intrusion in thecooperatively breeding white-browed sparrow weaver, Plocepasser mahali
Article Abstract:
The territorial behavior ofPlocepasser mahali (white-browed sparrow weavers) is described. P. mahali breedcooperatively and exhibit territory defence by regular patrolling of territories plus chorus vocalization. Simulated territorial intrusions result in increases in territorial aggression by all group members. Moreover, territorial aggression is independent of testosterone, but is correlated to luteinizing hormone.

Control of behavioral strategies for capricious environments
Article Abstract:
The psychological and behavioral changes that led to emergency life-history stage and serve to enhance fitness of various animals are detailed. The change allows an individual to avoid potential deleterious effects of stress that result from chronically elevated levels of circulating glucocorticosteroids over days and weeks.

Competing females and caring males. Sex steroids in African black coucals, Centropus grilliid
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to investigate whether androgens and oestrogens are involved in the hormonal control of polyandry and sex role reversal in the black coucals. It is concluded that the absence of one testis does not provide a mechanism for a sex role reversal in black coucals.
