Identifying populations for conservation on the basis of genetic markers
Article Abstract:
Selection of wild species populations for conservation should be based on genetic criteria established by genetic markers. Priority has traditionally been based on heterozygosity or percentage of polymorphic loci, but allelic richness can be stabilized across populations through rarefaction. The argan tree of Morocco has been the basis for this research.

Large mammalian herbivores and the conservation of arid Acacia stands in the Middle East
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the effects of high mortality in Middle Eastern Acacia tree populations on biodiversity, focusing on the role of large mammalian herbivores in tree seed dispersal. Topics addressed include human impact on the environment, tree recruitment, and the relationship between herbivores and tree demography.

Priority-setting tool applied to Canada's landbirds based on concern and responsibility for species
Article Abstract:
Conservation of landbirds could be based on responsibility and concern scores. The concern score measures the vulnerability of the species and the responsibility score measures whether the bird usually occurs in that region.
