Imagine only the half of it
Article Abstract:
Visual perception and visual imagery may not draw on the same mechanism. A patient whose right frontal lobe was damaged by a stroke showed no spatial neglect until asked to perform imagery tasks, such as visualizing a Roman piazza. Previous studies linked imagery neglect (not describing or imagining as well on the left as on the right) with spatial neglect (not perceiving as well on the left). Differences between acute and chronic phase imagery are also discussed.

Seeing the forest but only half the trees?
Article Abstract:
Patients with right visuo-spatial neglect exhibit a dissociation of the two types of conscious perceptual awareness, local and global perception of objects. On being shown a large form or shape composed of smaller, local figures, the patients identify the global shape fully and the smaller shapes partially. The patients neglect the left half of the local forms, implying that total visual awareness of whole objects does not follow their conscious perception.

Pain pathways and plasticity
Article Abstract:
A palmomental reflex documented in 1920 may indicate a direct nerve path from the hand to the face which can result in phantom limb sensations. Phantom limb feelings resulting from touching the face have been theorized as coming from the thalamocortical level. However, if the palmomental reflex pathway exists then the phantom limb results may come from the brain stem.
