Impact origin of sediments at the Opportunity-landing site on Mars
Article Abstract:
Mars Exploration Rovar Opportunity discovered sediments with layered structures are a unique to aqueous deposition and with minerals attributed to evaporation of an acidic salty sea. The layered structures are not unique to water deposition and the scenario encounters difficulties in accounting for highly soluble salts admixed with less soluble salts, the lack of clay minerals from acid-rock reactions, high sphericity and near uniform sizes of the spherules and the absence of a basin boundaries.

The flow and ebb of water
Article Abstract:
Water once flowed on the surface of the Mars is clear from the spacecraft images of valley networks and giant fluid-carved channels. Opportunity is one of the two Mars Exploration Rovers which found the composed of layered sandstones on the surface of Mars and proved that the sandstone are formed by the erosion and redeposition of fine-grained silicate particles and evaporates that are derived from the chemical weathering of volcanic rocks by acidic waters.

Martian gullies turn tide in hunt for life
Article Abstract:
Planetary scientists are eager to step up their search for life on Mars after the team of scientists from Malin Space Science Systems in San Diego reported about gullies forming on two crater walls on Mars between 1999 and 2005. The discovery about groundwater seeping out of Mars is significant for those who hope to find life on the planet Mars one day.
