Inquiry at Harvard prompts research paper corrections
Article Abstract:
Three physicians from Harvard Medical School have made extensive corrections in the results of research conducted on the treatment of hemangiomas, rare but sometimes fatal birthmarks found in newborns. An investigation of the research found several serious errors which needed to be corrected, although no evidence of misconduct was cited. This research was conducted by R. Alan B. Ezekowitz, John B. Mulliken and Judah Folkman. Researchers found the interferon alfa-2a to be the best treatment for the birthmarks.

DIY microarrayers promise DNA chips with everything
Article Abstract:
Californian scientists have developed a website with instructions on how to build a microarray system for making custom chips. A researcher could build a microarrayer for around $30,000 using the website, half the cost of a commercial machine. The scientists also offer a 'freeware' database designed for microarray data.
