Kin-biased dispersal behavior in the mango shield scale, Milviscutulus mangiferae
Article Abstract:
Dispersal behavior is expected to evolve when fitness decreases with increasing density. This was tested with first-instar larvae of the mango shield scale, Milviscutulus mangiferae. When two crawlers were placed on a leaf they emigrated more often when they were siblings than when they were not related.
