Mantles were battered to bits
Article Abstract:
A new collisional history for the main asteroid belt may resolve the shortage of asteroid mantle material in meteorites found on Earth. According to T.H. Burbine and colleagues, collisions among known asteroids are too seldom to break up the many parent bodies required to explain the variety of iron meteorites. They contend that many metallic cores could have been freed by catastrophic fragmentation and disruption if the current asteroids are vestiges of the collisional comminution of 50 times as many asteroids.

Bombarding Mars lately
Article Abstract:
The analyses of meteorites from Mars provided essential data about the history of the Solar System and triggered another controversial subject called the late heavy bombardment (LHB). LHB is described to be the period when most of the moon's craters were formed. The formation of LHB, however, is still unsubstantial. Others believe that it was caused by the appearance of comets, tidal phenomenon, or even by projected bodies from the earth.

The long trip to Earth
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the transportation of small asteroid fragments to Earth. The source of the large volume of meteoritic material which comes into contact with the Earth is discussed.
