Mating ecology of the nonpollinating fig wasps of Ficus ingens
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to better understand the mating ecology of the nonpollinating fig wasps of Ficus ingens. Results indicate that the aggressive behavior of male fig wasps during the mating season is caused by the few numbers of receptive female fig wasps and their concentration in one space. It was also observed that the highest mating success is attained by the large Otitesella longicauda because of its size.

Stripes display in hover-wasps (Vespidae: Stenogastrinae): a socially costly status badge
Article Abstract:
A high frequency of the stripes display in male stenogastrine wasps is connected with high success in both territorial competitions and mating. The stripes display is also a ritualized indicator of strength in aerial duals. The short flight period and the rise in stopping and foraging by white-painted males indicate a raised energy cost for the stripes display when there is a high density of rivals.

Intersexual sibling interactions and male benevolence in a fig wasp
Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted into the interaction between male and females of the Australian pollinating fig wasp. It is proposed that sex allocation is affected by both male competition and intersexual interactions between sibling wasps.
