Misdirections in conservation biology
Article Abstract:
It important for those in the field of conservation to balance and capitalize on different perspectives. The hypothesis that conservation biology is proceeding along two paths, based on small-population and declining-population paradigms, has brought on much discussion. Talk about management strategies for conservation of the Javan gibbon, Hyobates moloch, is an example and is discussed. The small-population paradigm could be used more effectively, but no real dichotomy exists.

Wood thrush populations are not all sinks in the agricultural midwestern United States
Article Abstract:
Wood Thrush (Hylocichla mustelina) populations have been found not all to be sinks in the agricultural midwestern United States. In sinks, reproductive success in below net replacement rate, consistently. Findings Wood Thrush studies in landscapes with fragmented forests show various ways in which source-sink dynamics are affected by habitat fragmentation. Brown-headed Cowbirds and their parasitism and nest predation are considered.

Identifying conservation-priority areas in the tropics: a land-use change modeling approach
Article Abstract:
Identification of conservation-priority areas in the tropics has been studied in Arunachal Pradesh, a biodiversity-rich region in northeast India, using a land-use change modeling approach. Correlation of land-cover and land-use patterns with biogeophysical characteristics was studied to project future patterns of land-use change.
