Modeling population dynamics of a songbird exposed to parasitism and predation and evaluating management options
Article Abstract:
Parasitism and nest predation are the primary causes of reproductive failure in songbirds. A two-step model can be used to determine the implications of these factors on songbird populations, to test alternate hypotheses, and to predict outcomes of specific management options. Using this model, the cause of the decline in Vireo populations in a Puerto Rican forest reserve can be identified.

Local extinctions of terrestrial insectivorous birds in a fragmented landscape near Manaus, Brazil
Article Abstract:
In a fragmented rainforest, areas less than 100 ha will result in extinction of insectivorous birds. In one such Brazilian rainforest, 74% of the insectivorous birds became extinct.
