Changes in blood glucose and lactate levels of male fiddler crabs: Effects of aggression and claw waving
Article Abstract:
The energy costs of male aggression and claw waving in a fiddler crab Uca perlexa, is estimated by examining blood glucose and lactate levels under natural conditions. The greatest variation in glucose level is found at the beginning of the activity period, implying variation in 'male quality'.

Predator avoidance in fiddler crabs: 1. Escape decisions in relation to the risk of predation
Article Abstract:
The predator avoidance behaviour of the fiddler crab Uca vomeris is explored by approaching crabs with small dummies intended to mimic a hunting tern. The crabs responded strongly and reliably to the simple dummies.
