Movements and survival of bald eagles banded in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem
Article Abstract:
There has been little research on the movements of bald eagles after they are a year old, so a study has followed eagles from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Power lines were the most common cause of death, accounting for 20% of deaths, followed by poisoning, accounting for 14%. The bald eagles most affected are those aged between 3-years-old and 4-years-old. Bald eagles often wandered away from their natal sites during the summer. The Yellowstone National Park provides a secure habitat and helps to boost survival rates for bald eagles.

Do embedded shotgun pellets have a chronic effect on body condition of pink-footed geese?
Article Abstract:
A study examining the effects of embedded shotgun pellets on pink-footed geese is presented. Results show that geese have survived the hunting season and are not injured to an extent to have detectable chronic effects on their bodies.

Estimating the total number of birds using a staging site
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the development of a method which can be used to determine the total number of birds using a migration stopover site over the length of a season. The method is tested on 2 waterfowl data sets.
