Neon signs mark Australian plume
Article Abstract:
A neon isotope system has been used to analyse how fluids from mantle plumes in Southeastern Australia were involved in volcanic eruptions 25,000 years ago. The analysis involves several isotopes including the gases helium and neon. Further research is required to assess the location of plume-type neon in fluid inclusions using crushed apatite under vacuum.

Geochemical evidence for efficient aquifer isolation over geological timeframes
Article Abstract:
The overlying carbonate Dogger aquifer, which is separated from the Trias aquifer by an aquitard layer consisting of a ~600 m succession of shales and clays, is stagnant and has been extremely well isolated from the Trais over the past several million years, is shown.

New prospects for old gas
Article Abstract:
Isotope studies have shown that natural gases can be retained in geological formations deep underground for much longer that was generally assumed.
