A trip to the Alaskan Arctic, in early June is described by visiting the tundra, which is alive with the feverish activity of breeding birds and each spring, brings species that winter in practically every part of the globe makes a long, perilous migration. The Arctic summers are brief and the nest predators have widespread impact on breeding birds than some of the more localized effects.

Bears take advantage of whatever food they come across as they are intelligent and learn quickly when it comes to food. The Methuselah among Alaska's Brooks River brown bear, Diver has perfected an unusual technique of fishing for salmon, by submerging and harvesting fish that have sunk to the river bottom.
