Parent-offspring conflict
Article Abstract:
Cooperative breeding behavior between parents and offspring among bee-eater birds may result from the delayed dispersal of sons, the random harassment of some younger breeders and the sons' penchant for assisting their parents. The birds' intolerance toward their male offspring is probably not a product of natural selection. However, the rebuttal view is that these behaviors derive from the social dynamics of individual birds within families. Hence parent-offspring conflict theory is an adjunct of inclusive fitness theory.
