Partnerships take flight
Article Abstract:
Private landowners across the range of the Karner blue (Lycaeides melissa samuelis) butterfly in Wisconsin are beginning to work with the US fish and Wildlife Service through the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program to restore this butterfly's habitat. It is hoped that the creation of new areas of habitat across a wide range of landscapes will ensure that this butterfly becomes more dispersed and that its gene pool remains diverse. Rural landowner Jon Petersen has been working for some time to create Karner blue habitat, and a small population of this butterfly has already become established.

Taking the cure
Article Abstract:
Former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders' dismissal for proposing the inclusion of masturbation to be part of a school's curriculum could be due to insufficient historical facts on the matter. Masturbation had been taught in the old Boy Scout Manual as early as the 1940s.
