Patterning of sodium ions and the control of electrons in sodium cobaltate
Article Abstract:
A single-crystal neutron diffraction supported by numerical simulations is used to determine the long-range three-dimensional superstructures of sodium ions. The results have shown that the sodium ion patterning has a decisive role in the transport and magnetic properties of sodium cobaltate.

Structure of a Na(super +)/H(super +) antiporter and insights into mechanism of action and regulation by pH
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of pH-downregulated NhaA, the main Na(sup +)/H(sup +) antiporter of Escherichia coli, and many enterobacteria is presented. Many aspects of the ion-translocation mechanism and pH regulation are illuminated by this NhaA structure.
