Pigs in space: spatial memory and its susceptibility to interference
Article Abstract:
Spatial memory has been investigated in many animal groups but there have been no studies of domestic pigs. New research investigates the spatial memory abilities of pigs, involving pigs searching for food. During the search trials, pigs appeared to use spatial memory to avoid revisiting empty locations, but were more susceptible to interference from some environmental stimuli compared to rats and pigeons, which show high resistance to interference.
